The Phoenix Intruder is an infrared beacon that includes a 50-foot trip wire. Once set, the Phoenix Intruder will activate only when the wire is tripped, allowing for a covert warning, surveillance or monitoring system that can only be seen with night vision equipment, such as the AN/PVS-7 B/D, the AN/PVS-14 or the AN/AVS-9.
The Phoenix Intruder emits a powerful infrared flash that is four times faster than the Phoenix JR., allowing for easy differentiation. In addition, the beacon is colored red, which indicates it is not for use as a personal marker.
Using several Phoenix Intruders, one soldier equipped with night vision equipment can maintain watch over dozens of covert beacons and mapped installation locations, offering the advantage of effective targeting.
Each Intruder includes: Infrared Beacon, trip switch module and two 50-foot spools of wire. Trip keys are available separately.
